Department of Vascular Surgery
Welcome!
Our main concern is the prophylaxis, diagnosis and treatment of various diseases of the vascular system.
In our department, we treat a wide range of diseases of the vascular system. The clinic follows an integrative concept: specialists in the fields of surgical vascular surgery, interventional treatment and conservative therapy work closely together. The focus is on the treatment of narrowing of the carotid artery, the enlargement of the abdominal aorta (aneurysms), and the arterial occlusive disease of the pelvic and leg arteries (PAOD, "smoker's leg"). In addition, we treat dialysis patients for the establishment or correction of dialysis access (shunt). Also, rare diseases such as malignant vascular tumors or deformities belong to our specialty.
We use modern procedures of open and endovascular (e.g., stent) surgery.
For diagnostic purposes, the standard examination procedures such as a comprehensive medical history survey and clinical evaluation, as well as apparatus methods such as Doppler and duplex ultrasound, sectional imaging (computer and magnetic resonance tomography) and angiography are used. Special diagnostic procedures can be planned individually depending on the outcome and the clinical findings.
We offer a regular contact to a vascular surgery special consultation, so you have a competent contact person at your side and you can actively shape your life despite a vascular disease.
For complex questions, we work interdisciplinarily in the vascular center with other departments. In regular case conferences, we can and do develop individual treatment concepts.
As a university work center, we also participate in clinical trials and publish scientific findings as well as to contribute to and partake in national and international congresses.
